The MLST(multilocus sequence typing) of Candida albicans is based on the analysis of molecular biological identification. This analysis based on DNA sequencing is to compare the difference of base sequence in bacteria species to identify the genetic variations in the same species. In this study, a MLST analysis were performed on clinically isolated 40 strains C. albicans isolated from hospital located in Korea in order to identify the genetic characteristics by sequence variation as well as phylogenetic relation of strains collected from different sources. The general variations found in 7 different housekeeping genes of C. albicans collected from urine & sputum, peripheral blood, central line blood, other specimens were analyzed. As a result, a total of 37 polymorphic sites were found in ACC1 (4), VPS13 (7), GLN4 (4), ADP1 (8), RPN2 (5), PMA1 (4) and SYA1 (5). Three clusters including the normal flora in phylogenetic tree, peripheral blood and central line blood were created. Consequently, the genetically similarity as well as the potential relevance were found in the strains collected from same specimen sources. MLST analysis is thought to be useful to determine the variation of species such as genetically various mutations. I believe that continuous accumulation of data on the genetic mutations of C. albicans related to phylogenetic aspects will help develop the antibiotics of new genes and establish epidemiological surveillance system for studying infectious diseases of the mechanism.
