초록[abstracts]

The worldwide trend toward capital punishment is to abolish the death penalty. In December 2014, The U.N. General Assembly called on the resumption of the moratorium on capital punishment and urged the rest of the world to stop executions. There are 140 countries in the world that are legally or de facto condemned to death. And there are 58 countries where capital punishment exists. The number of people executed in 2015 is more than 1,634 persons excluding China. https://amnesty.or.kr/what-we-do/death-penalty/
  This is hardly a small number.
 
    Many people have discussed the abolition of capital punishment from various perspectives. In particular, the legal circles, academics and religious circles strongly argue the abolition of capital punishment. The legal and academic circles argue that the death penalty is against human rights and can not reduce evil. In the religious circles, Catholics argue that a nation should not take away the precious and honorable life, claiming that God made human who took after the god so they belong to God. 
 
    Capital punishment can not simply be handled in terms of legal aspects because the death penalty has a long historical background. Capital punishment has existed on the basis of social backgrounds, such as the historical elements of the death penalty, the relationship with the world view, the relationship with human rights, and the relationship with authority. The death penalty, which has passed through this complicated historical process, is divided over whether or not to maintain this. There are some people who argue that the death penalty is necessary and others argue that we must abolish the death penalty in legal circle. In this thesis, we intend to study and analyze the opinions of the Catholic Church in a Catholic theological position. 
 
    we are going to look at the pros and cons of the death penalty from the historical changes and theological review and then we would like to present a plan to abolish the capital punishment
 
    The following chapters will then be divided into five chapters.
 Chapter 1 will explore the history of Western capital punishment and the history of the death penalty. This chapter will show how the death penalty has changed in the West from ancient times to modern times and also show the transition process of the death penalty of China, Japan, and Korea. 
 
    Chapter 2 will describe each assertion of the death penalty and abolition of the abolition of the capital punishment. First of all, we will look at the scholars who insist on maintaining the death penalty and classify their arguments. And we will organize the discuss about both sides through scholars advocating abolition. 
 
    Chapter 3 will show the current situation of the death penalty in South Korea. We will look at the trends of capital punishment and examine the problems of capital punishment From 1998 to 2013, and the reasons for the suspension of execution.
 
    In chapter 4, we will look at the Christian views on the death penalty. we are going to talk about the death penalty in the Old Testament and the New Testament and discuss the arguments of the late Patristic Age, Medieval, Modern and Modern Ethics. Also, we will deal with the teachings of Christianity and the teachings of the death penalty in each region of the Christian Church.
 
    Chapter 5 will shows the alternative plan to abolish the death penalty. We will describe about that If we abolished the death penalty, how would we do that.
