Contemporary democratic politics are often characterized as ‘image politics,’ in which style matters more than substance, and personalities more than policies. From one perspective, the crisis of democracy or representation is something of an illusion itself originating from media images. The notion of political image is at one level remarkably simple and here the image simply means something like reputation, overall character or personality. The key question addressed in this study is whether voters decision can be shaped from a candidate’s facial appearance in such a way as to influence voters’ preferences. To explore this question, an attempt was made to discover the components of a favorable political image from appearance and then use that information to manipulate voters’ preferences. In general, voters choose whoever they trust best ‘to deal competently with … “bottom line” issues,’ such as ‘economic management and defence, or peace and prosperity.’ Granting that electorates choose personalities on the basis of images more so than parties on the basis of their policies. The discussion is made based upon prior research being done in different jurisdiction i.e., U.S. Because voter’s political beliefs are connected to deeply held values, facial image about politics can be very threatening to voter’s decision. Whereas in earlier forms most political discussion took place in parliaments and in and between political parties, in the current form much more of it occurs in public arenas and forms of political communication defined by mass media. We do not intend in this paper either to try and achieve what to present an authoritative theory of images in general, or provide a full account of the ideological stakes of the critique of ‘image politics.’ The result of this research suggest that it is possible to shape a political candidate’s image in a way which may effect electoral outcomes but it not be crucial and can not be exactly measured. The implications of this for electoral politics are discussed using real U.S. presidential election process.
