재현성 시험 관련 하나의 논문에 두가지 결론

마취과 의사가 노인을 상대로 수술을 집행해야 하는 경우 얼마나 깊이 안정시키는 마취약을 써야 하는지는 논쟁적인 이슈임. 왜냐하면 일부 연구들은 마취약(anaesthetist)이 너무 많이 투여될 경우 이른 죽음으로 이어질 수 있다고 주장하기 때문임.
그러나 과연 그런지에 대해선 의문이 제기되고 있는데, 다른 연구의 경우 같은 결과들을 분석하여 사망률에 대한 다른 결론을 내리고 있기 때문임. 이 연구에 따르면 본 연구는 사망률에 대하여 그러한 결론을 내리기에는 -혹은 어떤 다른 결론이라도- 환자들의 데이터를 충분히 갖고 있지 않음.
